GET TO KNOW MORE ABOUT US

Welcome to Oedasoa Cochoqua, a platform dedicated to preserving, promoting, and celebrating the heritage of the Cochoqua Khoikhoi people of South Africa.

Our website serves as a central source of information about the history, culture, traditions, and legacy of the Cochoqua Khoikhoi. Through education, cultural promotion, and community engagement, we aim to ensure that the identity and heritage of our ancestors continue to live on for future generations.

The Cochoqua people played a significant role in the early history of Southern Africa. Today, as their descendants, we carry the responsibility of preserving our history and sharing it with the world.

About Oedasoa Cochoqua

Oedasoa Cochoqua represents the descendants of the historic Cochoqua Khoikhoi people of South Africa.

Our organization exists to protect, document, and promote the history, traditions, and cultural identity of the Khoikhoi people. The Cochoqua were one of the prominent Khoikhoi groups in the Western Cape region during the early encounters with European settlers.

We are committed to ensuring that the voices, stories, and heritage of our ancestors are recognized, respected, and preserved.

Through this platform, we provide information, resources, and updates about the Khoikhoi community, our cultural heritage, and initiatives that support indigenous recognition and development.

Our heritage

The Cochoqua Khoikhoi were historically known as one of the most powerful pastoral communities in Southern Africa. They were skilled cattle herders, traders, and leaders within the Khoikhoi society.

Their presence in the region long predates colonial settlement, and their traditions, language, and social systems played an important role in shaping the cultural landscape of Southern Africa.

Despite the challenges brought by colonization and displacement, the legacy of the Cochoqua people continues through their descendants today.

At Oedasoa Cochoqua, we aim to restore awareness and pride in this heritage by documenting historical knowledge, supporting cultural revival, and educating future generations about their roots.
